Bonjour,

Well...it's been an interesting week with lots of illnesses and some crazy weather!

Updates:

Ski trip now taking place next Thursday February 16th. Permission forms for new date sent home today and due back Tuesday (also emailed to all parents/guardians on MyEd BC contact list)

Anglais: Lit Circles. We are doing a bit of catch up with our novel study on White Jade Tiger. Because we only have one English class next week (Tuesday the 14th), our next lit. circle meetings on Chapters 8-13 will be taking place during that class on Tuesday. All students should have their novels and handout with their respective roles at home this weekend. Absent students were emailed their role for Tuesday.

Maths: Please complete either option A or option B from today's percentages practice handout. For those absent, I will provide missed notes from class with all the equivalent fractions and percentages we looked at as well as the extra practice sheet on Tuesday.

We are looking at easy ways to find 20%, 25%, 10 % and 50% of any number by relating 20% to 1/5 of a number (1/5 equivalent to 20/100), 25% to 1/4 of a number (1/4 equivalent to 25/100) etc.

Strategy:

20% -divide given number by 5 (20% of 40= 40 divided by 5 = 8)
25%: divide given number by 4
10%: divide given number by 10
50%:  divide given number by 2
